best thing ever for lurking!

So thanks to my brilliant daughter Amos, I now have time to check everyone's blogs that I care about! On your google mail account there's an option for "more..." there you'll find the "reader". Then you enter your friends blog addresses and it will let you know which ones have been updated since you last checked. WHEW! time saver and a half!!! Nothing worse than checking Karen's blog repeatedly, only to find no UPDATES...now I only have to check my "reader" to see if there's anything new, along with anyone elses's. Best invention ever! Now I can really keep up to date on everyone--and that's a lot of people!

3 little dots that mean so much!

So I finally remembered the name for the little punctuation marks I use over and over again (thanx Brittany H)...you know the ones that imply so much...? I must use them at least a half dozen times in my writings...who knows why? Maybe some things are better left unsaid...

OH! in case you wondered...they're called ellipsis! And I love them! Who invented them I want to know...

Missing my Heidi

Heidi doing "dress up"

So Sunday we were able to go down and visit with the Johnson's, finally! I miss those precious girls. Heidi has a real sense of humor and I saw a little of it when we were driving home from church. She opted to ride home with Grumpa and me, and when we were pulling out from our parking space, grumpa forgot to put it in reverse so we kinda nudged the parking block. He quickly corected it, but not before Heidi noticed and giggling said, "nice try grumpa!"

We spent the day at the beach where they live, and had a picnic lunch. Annie and Natalie joined us. Nice and relaxing...and I didn't have to run home and get ready for seminary the next day because it was President's day! YIPPPEEEEE!

Happy Hearts

One of my favorite things is to do holiday dinners. I love having themes, I love to decorate...I try to make things feel special, even when certain days seem overrated...and seem to be made to make people not in those "categories" feel unloved and left out!

But I sure like getting my dozen pink roses every year! Here's to our happy day; just me, Laura and my hubby enjoying our traditional "red" stew.

97-day Hinckley Challenge

To enter the challenge go to: 97-DAY CHALLENGE

I received this challenge and I am going to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days to honor President Hinckley. Will you take the challenge with me?

As most of you know, our beloved prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley passed away at the age of 97. His funeral was on Saturday, February 2nd.

Some good people were thinking of how they could honor his legacy and came up with an idea. It is a challenge for those willing to accept it:Read the Book of Mormon in 97 days. They are trying to get everyone to start on the same day. Here are the details:

* Go to http://www.hinckleychallenge.com/ and create an account (free, of course).
* On Feb 4, 2008 (the Monday following the funeral) begin your reading.
* Each day you read, record what page number you are on by going to http://www.hinckleychallenge.com/

They would like this challenge to be heard all around the world! They are going to spread this throughout the news media (TV and radio) and they've already contacted Fox news, KSL, CBS, and ABC. Pass it on...

Succession in Presidency

Insiders at the Church say that as the new leader of 13 million members, President Monson will hit the ground running. The man who can quote a scripture on any topic, pull out an applicable poem or remember details and names from his personal history, while ours has blurred away, uses that same intellect and incisive memory to accomplish a mountain of work every day and still leave, according to Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, “an astonishingly clean desk.”

He’s comfortable with anyone conversing on any subject, and his leadership was recognized while he was still, like Nephi, exceedingly young. He was called as a bishop at 22 in a ward that had the largest welfare load in the Church, including 85 widows. He was called as a counselor in a stake presidency at 27, a mission president at 31, an apostle at 36, and a member of the First Presidency at 58 (the youngest in this century).

Yet, for all this remarkable capacity, the hallmark of President Monson is his pure love of Christ, and his uncanny ability to hear the voice of the Spirit and respond instantly. He said, “In my patriarchal blessing as a boy, I was promised that I would have the gift of discernment. I have to acknowledge that such a declaration has been abundantly fulfilled in my life.”

His has been a ministry to the lost battalions of the faltering, the lonely, the sick, the struggling, the forgotten, the widow, the uncared for, those who fall by the wayside. His has been a call captured in this scripture: “Wherefore, be faithful; stand in the office which I have appointed unto you; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.” (D&C 81:5).

In Monday’s press conference, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf noted, “President Monson has such a feeling for the needs of individuals and the needs of all the world.” In this article we want to give you a story representing both — one when President Monson reached out to a single heart as he has so many thousands of times (this one a member of our own family) — and one when he opened the door to a nation.

This is a moving article. Click HERE for the rest of the story "touching one life". It will move you to tears.
